Foreign Employment Re-Entry (Renew) Permit

If you are already working abroad and came to Nepal on leave, you need a re-entry / renew labour permit (पुनः प्रवेश / renew shram swikriti) from the Department of Foreign Employment (DOFE) before returning to the same employer. This keeps your foreign employment legal and your welfare-fund and insurance protection active.

Documents Usually Needed
- Valid passport (renewing? see passport renewal abroad).
- Existing visa / work permit of the destination country.
- Employment contract / proof of the same job.
- Renewed insurance and welfare-fund payment as required.
The Re-Entry Process
- Apply online for the re-entry/renew permit on dofe.gov.np.
- Upload/submit your passport, visa and job documents.
- Renew insurance and pay any welfare-fund contribution due.
- Get your renewed labour permit and keep a copy while you travel.
⚠️ Returning without renewing your permit can make your employment irregular and cut off your legal protection. Always re-enter with a valid permit.
