How to Get a Police Clearance Certificate in Nepal (PCC)
Many visas and foreign jobs require a Police Clearance Certificate proving you have no criminal record. Here is how to get one in Nepal.
भिसा, अध्ययन वा वैदेशिक रोजगारका लागि प्रहरी प्रतिवेदन (Police Clearance) लिने प्रक्रिया।
A Police Clearance Certificate (PCC / प्रहरी प्रतिवेदन) confirms you have no criminal record in Nepal. It is commonly required for work visas, student visas, PR applications and foreign employment. It is issued by Nepal Police.
Where: PCC for use abroad is typically processed through Nepal Police (District Police Office / the designated Nepal Police unit that handles foreign-use certificates). Some countries require it to be attested by MoFA and their embassy afterward.
Documents Required
- Citizenship certificate (original + copy).
- Passport (copy) — since it is for foreign use.
- Passport-size photos.
- Purpose / destination country details, and any visa or embassy request letter.
Process
- Apply at the designated Nepal Police office with your documents.
- Give required details — and biometrics/fingerprints if requested.
- Verification — police check their records.
- Collect your PCC.
- Attest if required — get MoFA and destination-embassy attestation when the country demands it.
💡 If your document is for a specific country, confirm whether they need the PCC in English (translated & notarized) and attested — arrange that in the same trip to save time. See our document translation guide.
