A relationship certificate (नाता प्रमाणपत्र / nata praman) officially confirms the family relationship between people — for example parent and child, or spouses. It is commonly required for dependent visas, family reunification, and abroad applications. It is issued by your local ward office or the District Administration Office (DAO).
Common uses: Proving parent-child or spouse relationships for a dependent visa, adding family members to an application abroad, or property/inheritance matters.
Documents Usually Required
- Citizenship certificates of the people whose relationship is being certified.
- Birth certificate (for parent-child relationships).
- Marriage certificate (for spouse relationships).
- Passport-size photos.
- Ward recommendation where required.
How to Apply
- Go to your ward office or DAO where your family is registered.
- Fill the application stating the relationship to be certified.
- Submit supporting documents — citizenships, birth/marriage certificates.
- Verification by the local authority.
